MAGTROL SA - 20 years of service and more than 60 years of experience

On 1 May 2000, MAGTROL SA, a new high-tech company, was founded in the heart of Switzerland. Today the company is celebrating its 20th anniversary!

The company was formed from the Instrumentation Division of Vibro-Meter SA (now Meggitt SA) and a merger with its parent company Magtrol Inc. (based in Buffalo, New York, U.S.A.). Magtrol SA (a contraction of Magnetic-Control) has continued to grow through innovation and development  over the past two decades. From its origins with the creation of Vibro-Meter SA in 1952 and the experience of its parent company Magtrol Inc (a family business founded in 1953), Magtrol today benefits from more than 60 years of experience in its field.

The company, which began with about 30 employees, currently employs more than 70 people in the canton of Fribourg. Established in 2006 in Rossens, the company occupies a 2200m2 site combining production, R&D, sales, administration and since 2015 an ISO 17025 accredited calibration laboratory. With offices in Germany, France and India, a subsidiary in China (Shanghai) and numerous partners throughout the world, Magtrol has a vast international sales and service network.

Magtrol SA develops and produces high-tech sensors and systems for a variety of applications such as electric motor testing and certification, torque measurement in various applications (motors, pumps, drives, gearboxes, …), force and load measurement (cranes, hoisting equipment, ski lifts, civil engineering anchors, …) and displacement measurement in control systems. Our applications serve many industries including household appliances, automotive, aeronautics, test or research laboratories, medical, energy production, port cranes, transport, civil engineering and many others.

For 20 years, Magtrol SA has been listening to its customers and providing specific solutions ranging from custom-made sensors to customized turnkey systems. The expertise of its R&D allows it to regularly expand its product offerings and innovative solutions. Examples include the recent launch of a new torque sensor (TS Series) and a Cogging Test System (CTS Series) for electric motor testing.

More than 80% of its production is exported, giving the company a worldwide presence with a dominant position widely recognized by all professionals in the field. Despite this international activity, Magtrol SA has been able to get involved in the local economy through collaboration with universities and the training of apprentices. Magtrol’s ethical code allows the company to benefit from hard-working, experienced and committed employees who play a major role in its success.
