Custom CMTS Cart
All of the components mentioned above are mounted on a versatile cart made from extruded aluminum which is lightweight, sturdy and corrosion-resistant. A special clamping bridge is added to hold the motor under test firmly in place. The cart rolls on large 5" casters which can be locked in place when at rest and in operation through a spring-loaded rubber foot pad. With the variable transformer mounted in the base of the cart, the entire system is self-contained. If needed, the CMTS accepts 50 and 60 Hz input from external sources.

Coupling
coupling with adapterThe coupling supplied with this CMTS provides an easy connection from the shaft of the motor to the dynamometer. The motor engages the coupling using a flat-sided shaft that, when matched up, simply slides in with no tools required. The coupling is designed with a custom-machined, heat-treated tool steel bushing adapter. There are bushing adapters supplied for three different threaded shaft motors. Fiber washers are used to prevent seizing.

  Adjustable Motor Fixture
adjustable motor fixtureMagtrol's custom adjustable motor fixture is used to hold a motor in place while running a test. It accommodates 4" to 8" diameter motors, while maintaining a 9" center height with auto center capability. Dual jaw slides separate axially, allowing the fixture to house motors up to 18" long. Each jaw slide adjusts independently for centering odd-shaped motors. When using a symmetrical motor, dual scales provide reference for fast alignment of jaws. Nylon pads are used on the jaws to offer protection against scratches to the motor. To secure the motor, an adjustable DE-STA-CO clamp is used. The flat-cushion spindle comes with a neoprene tip for scratch-free clamping with medium force. The assembly includes two jam nuts for easy adjustment.
